Change Takes Time

2/21/2013

Many times when people come into the counseling office, they want change very quickly.  Sometimes change is fast, but in my counseling and life experience, I have noticed that change often takes time.  It is important to remember that most of the problems that we are experiencing in life did not manifest overnight, but instead gradually built up over time.   Since the problem gradually developed over time, it often cannot be repaired overnight.  Our culture is all about quick fixes and immediate solutions, but when it comes to long-term change, a quick-fix is usually not the answer.   Change is a process that takes time.  It is important to be patient with the process because in the end, the outcome is definitely worth the wait!
