Fees & FAQs

Q. How much does counseling cost?
A. Session fees vary by therapist
based on their experience and specialized training:
  • Licensed therapists: $125-$250/session
  • Pre-licensed therapists under supervision: $100/session
  • Supervised intern: $75/session
Limited sliding scale options may be available. Some therapists offer a small number of reduced-fee spots based on financial need. These spots are limited and subject to availability. If you need a reduced rate, please ask your therapist directly about their sliding scale options. Your therapist will discuss their specific rates before your first session.
Need help finding the right financial fit? Contact your preferred therapist directly to discuss their specific rates. If cost is a concern, we're happy to help you connect with a therapist whose fees work within your budget - no worries about switching if needed!

Q. Can I use my insurance?
A. We do not accept insurance as in-network providers.
Here's why: When you use insurance for therapy, several privacy and treatment concerns arise:
  • Privacy limitations: Insurance companies require a psychiatric diagnosis and detailed clinical information. In some cases, they may request access to your complete patient file.
  • Treatment interference: Insurance companies often try to influence your therapy methods, session frequency, or treatment duration to reduce their costs. This means important treatment decisions won't be made solely between you and your therapist.
  • Future insurance impact: Having a psychiatric diagnosis on record may affect your ability to obtain health or life insurance in the future, or influence your premium rates.
Out-of-network benefits may still help. Many insurance plans offer out-of-network mental health coverage. If yours does, you can:
1. Pay for sessions at the time of service
2.
Receive a Superbill (official receipt) from your therapist after each session.
3.
Submit the Superbill to your insurance company for potential reimbursement
We recommend checking with your insurance provider about your specific out-of-network mental health benefits to understand what portion of costs might be covered.

Q. How long does counseling take?
A.
We wish we had an answer for that! Each client and situation is unique, so you and your therapist can discuss this once treatment begins. Some clients choose short-term therapy (5-15 sessions) to work through specific issues, while others dealing with longer-standing issues will need more time. Participation in counseling at Stonegate is completely voluntary and you may choose to discontinue services at any time and for any reason.

Q. How often do I need to meet with my counselor?
A. If you are voluntarily attending counseling, this decision is ultimately up to you. Most clients meet with their therapist every one to three weeks, depending on client/therapist availability and the intensity of your presenting problem. Your therapist will usually be able to make a recommendation for appointment frequency at the end of your first session. Appointment frequency can also change as counseling progresses. Your therapist will be happy to work with you to find the best rhythm!
