College is supposed to be the best time of your life! At least that’s what everyone says. But for a lot of students, the reality is more complicated. You’re managing academic pressure, figuring out who you are and who you want to become, navigating relationships (new ones and old ones that are changing), and doing all of it while away from your support system for the first time.
It’s a lot. And if you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, depressed, or just stuck, that doesn’t mean you’re failing at college. It means you’re human.
What We Help College Students With

Why Off-Campus Therapy?
University counseling centers do great work, but they’re often limited to short-term models and can have long wait times. If you need more consistent, longer-term support, or if you just want a therapist who isn’t connected to your school, private practice therapy is a solid option. Plus, we really believe in our approach, which is something you won't get there.
If you're a person of faith and want to know how we approach faith and counseling, that's pretty reasonable - it's hard to know what you're going to get. While we won't avoid topics of God and faith, we also know that you are forming your own relationship with God, and we want to respect that process. We'll never use the Bible against you or to try to control you; we simply don't think that's how God works. Our job is to come alongside you and help you develop emotionally, relationally, and spiritually, whatever that looks like. Always supporting as you take a hard look at your life and evolving identity as a maturing adult. Here's more about how we approach faith and counseling.
We’re located in Watkinsville, about 7 miles from UGA’s campus. Close enough to be convenient, far enough to be a separate space from school.
Getting Started
If you know what's wrong and what you're wanting to work on, great! If not, that's completely fine. Your therapist will help you figure out what’s going on and what to do about it - this is literally what we're trained to do. We've got you.
Every therapist at Stonegate works with college students consistently and would love to support you (we live in Athens - how could we not?). Hannah, Donna, Ryan, Taylor, and Alison are all accepting college-age clients right now and could get you in quickly.
Reach out through our contact page and let us know you’re a college student. We’ll match you with a therapist who works well with students your age.
